About Us

Growing up, David Jones’ dream was to play professional basketball. With the support of his parents, his dream became a reality. After years of competing at the professional level in Europe and living out his passion, Jones came to a powerful realization: the same opportunities he’d been given were not always within reach for others.

In response, Jones founded the Willie Jones Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, in 2008. Named in honor of his late father, Willie Jones, a retired U.S. Air Force Captain, the Foundation reflects the values of service, perseverance, and leadership that shaped David’s own journey.

The Foundation is dedicated to empowering young people, both athletes and non-athletes, by providing opportunities for personal and athletic growth. Through outreach initiatives, SFS financial support, and basketball training and competition abroad, the Foundation helps youth build confidence, character, and a broader worldview.

Since its inception, the Willie Jones Foundation has inspired countless young people to become compassionate, driven leaders. Jones has witnessed students who once struggled in school transform into dedicated scholars, and athletes return from overseas experiences with a renewed sense of purpose and perspective.
